3 For Life: Art For Life Chicago 2022 Award Winners

33 Contemporary Gallery is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of Three For Life: Art For Life Chicago 2022 Award Winners Exhibition featuring artists Anthony Adcock, Kristin Wenc, Michael Coakes. The exhibition is curated by Sergio Gomez.

Join us at @33contemporary 1029 W. 35th St, Chicago on Wednesday, March 1st for an intimate VIP opening to celebrate the work of these talented Chicago artists. This is a great opportunity to preview the show and get a first view into their work.

Anthony Adcock blends his unique experiences working as a Local #1 Ironworker and as an artist to create works that explore the relationship between labor and value. Using hyper illusionistic trompe l’oeil painting, sculpture, and installation, he distorts the line between reality and perception to question the importance and relevancy of authorship.  He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the American Academy of Art with a specialization in oil painting.

Kristin Wenc is a principally self-taught, abstract painter who lives and works in Chicago. Midway through undergraduate studies, she paused her studio coursework and spent a large portion of her adult life away from any formal art practice. When Kristin returned to art making, she traded her charcoals and pastels for paint. She embraced the wide-ranging possibilities that acrylic affords when mixed with various gels and mediums and came to rely on many non-traditional tools to achieve her desired surface treatments.

Michael Alan Coakes is a visual artist born in Ft. Worth, Texas and raised in Aurora, Illinois – a suburb of Chicago. His art studies began at a very early age. Through frequent visits to the Art Institute of Chicago he grew up with the influence of the 60s and 70s pop art and an attraction to a diverse array of artists from Picasso and Dali too Mucha. Finding and honing his own style in a number of mediums including drawing, painting and photography, he has benefited from the mentoring of a variety of schools including The American Academy of Art in Chicago.

A closing reception as part of the Zhou B Art Center Open Studios event will take place on Friday, March 17th from 7-10 pm. Come and invite your friends.
